Dry Needling

If you’ve ever wondered if there’s a helpful therapy for tense, sore or stiff muscles that actually works-you’re in luck!

We’re proud to now offer dry needling in North Andover, a non-surgical approach to real relief from pain and tension. Just this past year, dry needling was approved in Massachusetts under the guide of a chiropractor.

In order to offer the best care plans for our patients, Dr. Calhoun knew he wanted to become certified. Now, he’s proud to offer this new therapy for patients seeking relief from a variety of muscle related problems.

Dry needling involves the use of a very thin (and mostly pain-free) needle inserted directly into specific trigger points in your body. The needle pierces the muscle tissue, allowing the problem area to tense and release properly. Dry needling has been used for years by professional athletes, and highly accoladed for its incredible benefits.

Dry needling can often be an incredible addition to other modalities, including chiropractic care and soft tissue work. We’ve had patients find relief from problems they’ve had for years after just a few sessions with us. While the modality is mostly pain free, patients may experience a mild discomfort when the trigger point is released.

After a visit, we find most patients are extremely satisfied and relaxed! Helping you heal quickly and effectively is always our number one goal.

Dry needling is a natural, focused way to help you find relief from common complaints including:

  • Hip pain and discomfort
  • Cervical spine issues
  • Headache relief
  • Shoulder pain and mobility issues

  • Lower back problems
  • Ankle and thigh issues
  • Shin splints
  • And more

One of the added benefits of dry needling is that it doesn’t just work to relax and reduce pain in your problem areas, but it can also help improve your range of motion. When muscles are too tense and tight, they don’t move correctly, and when they’re stressed, problems often arise. Because dry needling helps the area relax and return to normal function, range of motion is often increased.
